FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Fieldwork locations and methods will vary depending on the entity. Many of our partner organizations are working remotely right now (via computer, Zoom, etc.) and some are working in-person. Also, some have hybrid methods. Agents of Change participants will not be required to work in-person with any organization, or at any location, which does not impose safety protocols in conformity with those of our University. Safety is paramount.

The application process is selective, and we accept only a limited number of highly motivated students with a demonstrated commitment to social justice. We look for students who are hard-working, self-directed and resilient in the face of challenges. We are looking for students with diverse life experiences, perspectives, ideas, and backgrounds.

Agents of Change is funded by the generosity of private USC donors committed to the Initiative’s mission. These donors enable us to hire Initiative staff, pay student stipends, cover expenses associated with guest speakers, and cover other costs associated with the program.

Yes! We are always looking for new partner organizations and entities in the field of civil rights willing to host and mentor Agents of Change students. Participating organizations host one or more student interns for a minimum of one semester. Host organizations provide guidance and meaningful work experience to talented students.
